day 2 of the beyond Academics sessions was again received with a lot of excitement ,
Belegere is a small village situated deep and reaching there is to experience all types of road conditions in one ride.
however after reaching the school one gets a warm welcome by the pleasent and true smile of students and teachers.
today the 26th of October 2017, was special in many ways to me ( rtn Sunand Sampath ) in many ways,
before I get into the details of why today was special , i would like to acknowledge the people , the Leaders in Rotary, The Faculty members from the schools , who all are involved in this programme ' Beyond Academics'
this is true team work ,
Mud pots with warli art and having own plant to nurture and seeing it grow... this is an exciting idea, and to achieve this we had to struggle a lot for procuring the flower pots of the right size , with dwindling demand for earthen Pots due to increase in demand for plastic pots, it is extremely difficult to get these pots,
with consistant effort and search we could get all the pots required for all the students of these schools ,
now the task was to distribute these pots in the schools before they get into the workshops,
so today I took all the pots in a transport auto and rode about 100 kms in all , , from pottery town, a known place for earthen pots, to panathur school, then to Belegere then moving to Gunjur, , and from there moved to The rural schools at Tarabnahalli towards interior Hoskote .
What a ride it was ... At the end of the day all this effort the bumpy ride , back pain, was really worth it ,
I represent rotary and the whole team ... and have made the message out that we are coming to have a lot of fun and learn 'Beyond academics'
Its days like these when skipping lunch makes life more meaningful... leaving home at 8 am and reaching back at 5 pm and stopping only for the distribution of pots at these schools and a small discussion time. and rest time spent on road.
when we smiles on the faces of those students , their teachers, and parents all this will be called ' sweet pain of success'
glimpses of my ride
while the workshops at the Belegere were going on in full swing ,
The Students and teachers of the school were excited and expressed deep Gratitude to rotarians for making this happen at their school,
Tonight the children are going to get newer ideas and innovative thoughts about a lot of things .
the lower Primary classes children learnt some new skills in painting , they practised painting during the workshop , and took home their colour set and promised to finish their painting at home,
one teacher said' we havent seen our children paint so well'
a visitor from a nearby school has requested us to organize similar programme for their children...
we leave the rest to your imagination....
more updates to follow...
